Vincent Mitsubishi A6M Jag Zero guitar

Tora! Tora! Tora!

Jiro Horikoshi (堀越 二郎) designed the Mitsubishi A6M Zero aircraft for the Japanese navy in WWII. The appearance of these fighter planes inspired Vincent to build a Mitsubishi Zero Guitar with the same features. The red alder body was spray painted aluminium and then in imperial navy green, the same colour as the original Zero. And then it was damaged in the same fashion as the Japanese planes (since their green paint wasn’t that good ;-)).

What immediately strikes the eye besides the lightning bolt, is the Switchcraft 3 way ‘aircraft bomber’ toggle switch. Also, the body contains two volume controls, one tone control, two matching hand wound P90s and a tune-O-matic roller type bridge with a Jag-style tremolo. The body also has a 5 ply scratch plate and Schaller strap locks. The flamed maple neck goes with a rosewood fretboard.

See also the P-51 Mustang Sally and B-17 Bombshell Bass. We also made another military inspired guitar, the M4 Sherman.

This beauty is already battle damaged and ready to whizz through the heavenly skies like a summer breeze.

Ambachtelijk gemaakte gitaren

Handcrafted with care

We love to build guitars from scratch. Not ready made bodies and necks, but real labour intensive sawing and sanding. We work with sustainable wood and we mostly use our own Vincent handwound pickups. Besides that we work with well-known suppliers who deliver us high-end hardware. All together this results into beautiful and great sounding guitars, made with love and care for the environment.
